My biography

Dr. Jennifer Hsia received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of South Dakota. She completed a predoctoral internship at VA Puget Sound – American Lake Division in Tacoma, Washington where she worked with adults and older adults with wide-ranging concerns, including chronic pain, trauma, healthy lifestyle changes, depression, and anxiety. She continued with a one-year clinical postdoctoral fellowship at the San Diego VA /UCSD where she provided individual therapy in an integrated care and helped individuals with smoking / tobacco cessation.

In the recent past, Dr. Hsia worked part-time as Senior Counseling Psychologist at University of California, Irvine Counseling Center and as Assistant Professor in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at the Los Angeles campus of California School of Professional Psychology – Alliant International University (CSPP). Clinically, Dr. Hsia addresses a broad range of issues (depression, anxiety, trauma, acculturation issues, adjustment, etc.), especially assisting individuals with living healthier lifestyles (e.g., meeting exercise goals, dieting, and weight management) and addressing the psychological challenges of medical conditions (e.g., chronic pain). She is also particularly interested in promoting the use of cultural healing and mindfulness practices with psychotherapy to support holistic wellness.

In her spare time, Dr. Hsia enjoys traveling and has visited over 20 countries. She also enjoys hiking, spending time with family and friends, and relaxing at home with her cat.
